Buried

I lie motionless as dirt is poured over me. The sun gives way to blackness. Earth fills the space around me.

I was once part of a greater whole. Now I am alone in the cold ground.

But I will see the light once again. I will drink. My roots will stretch. My neck will break through the soil. My leaves will tickle the air.

I am buried now, but I will grow.
