Hello. Long time, no blog. It’s been almost two months since I’ve posted an update. October is always a busy month—our wedding anniversary, daughter’s birthday, and family member birthdays fill the calendar. Then I blinked and Thanksgiving passed.
In these busy weeks, I’ve had little time to work on the manuscript. But I squeezed a couple of minutes out of the day here and there and a funny thing happened—I finished the first round of edits. Allow me to dance in celebration.
It feels great to check that milestone off the list, but there is much more work to be done. I’m going to put it through the wash for one more cycle to tighten loose threads, buff out blemishes, and add some polish before I ship the book to beta readers (test readers who will give feedback before the manuscript is sent out to literary agents). I’ll take the feedback from the beta readers and do another round of polishing—and hopefully no major rewrites. After that, I’ll go through it once again for a final inspection before sending it out for query to literary agents.
My goal is to begin querying agents early this spring. Cue the anxiety. But before I get ahead of myself, I’m going to enjoy this first-edit-benchmark and focus on the task before me.
Talk to you next week.
Awesome job Scott! It takes a lot of dedication, especially with two busy lap-sized humans. Congratulations on the newest milestone!
